Morning, everyone — Tuesday brought a hard day: nine trades closed, half of them stops, and the book fell −33.2% on the week so far. If you've ever watched a string of related bets all blow up at once, you know the feeling: not because the premise was wrong, but because the market went the way you bet against.

Let me walk you through what happened and what it means.

**Four stops in 120 hours is heavy, but it follows the shape of the rulebook.** SUI long at −8.3% after five days. PENDLE short at −9.2% after nearly five days. FIL short at −8.15%. NEAR short at −8.07%. These weren't outliers — they were the rulebook working exactly as designed: you take eight percent losses on range trades when the range breaks against you, and you stop out and move on. The backtest ran thousands of these. Fifty-some percent hit their targets near +3%; the rest stopped near −8%. That's the arithmetic. Win most, still lose money — until the win rate compounds.

But then ALGO worked: +3.17% in two days. NEAR flipped to long and banked +5.47% in 26 hours. MANA and ICP both hit their quick targets, +3.6% and +4.12%. That's four wins in a row after the four stops — which tells you something real: the range trades aren't broken, they're just sensitive to momentum direction.

The hard part to say out loud: when bitcoin rallies, every range short in the book feels it at the same time. There's no portfolio diversification here. That's a feature, not a bug — it means when conditions flip, the next signal batch can win cleanly. But it also means you'll have those days where six different coins all fire on the same signal type and all lose together. That's why the 10-day time limit exists. That's why the win rate is 68% and not 95%.

### the market from here

Bitcoin closed yesterday at **$86,128**, up just +0.44% on the day and +3.07% on the month. The tape is above all three moving averages — the 50-day at $79,484, the 200-day at $71,581 — but range-bound tight. Yesterday's open and today's open are nearly identical; the week has moved sideways. Price is +20.3% above the 200-day and only −1.5% off the 30-day high at $87,219\. Ethereum sits +27.9% above its 200-day and is flat on the day.

RSI on bitcoin is 65.7 — stretched, but not overbought; ethereum is 61.8\. Neither is screaming reversal. The daily range this week averaged 2.47%, in line with the 30-day norm of 2.69%. Volume yesterday was 94% of the 20-day average — normal participation, nothing extreme either way.

The levels tell the real story. Bitcoin has $87,219 above (the week high, last month's high, and a round number all stacked) and $84,966 below (yesterday's low). It's sleeping in a tight box. Ethereum has $2,804 above (the 30-day high and $2,800 round) and $2,688 below. The 50-day averages are 7-8% below current price on both — a cushion, but not a floor.

Order flow yesterday split hard: bitcoin saw its most seller-heavy aggression of the past ten days (−12.0% of volume), while ethereum was its most buyer-heavy (+11.4%). That's a divergence — stocks and crypto disagree. Bitcoin's funding is negative (shorts are paying longs), which means the leveraged crowd leans short; ethereum is the same. When price is high and funding is negative, crowded shorts are at risk of being squeezed — but price can also just drift down and prove them right.

If you had to read this: the tape is holding above the moving averages but sitting still, with the range shorts finally looking reasonable again after two days of getting caught underneath rallies. The market looks like chop masquerading as strength — not ready to run, not ready to fall.

### one thing worth keeping

Yesterday's four stops all came from the same trade type hitting the same stop on different coins within 120 hours. That's heartbreaking in real time, but it's also the data working. The backtest expected exactly this: some weeks the shorts all lose together because bitcoin rallies, and you eat −8% across a pile of positions. The insurance policy is the 68% win rate on the remaining signals — and it held. If you're running any systematic strategy, you'll have days where the system is just plain wrong. The question isn't whether those days exist; it's whether the whole math still works when they do.

#### all-time

| trades closed | win rate | avg trade | cumulative | tracking since |
| ------------- | -------- | --------- | ---------- | -------------- |
| 839 | 68.8% | +0.79% | +664.8% | June 08, 2026 |

The book closed nine trades yesterday and opened four new ones, all four in the last few hours. The 839 closed trades now average +0.79% each, and the cumulative sits at +664.8% since June. The last seven days: 93 closes, 57 wins, averaging −0.33% per trade. That's the cost of heavy stops — you have them, you survive them, the math resets.

INJ is now eight days into a repeat short and still watching that +3% target. The older AAVE longs are stacked two-deep and sitting on day 4 and 4.2 of their five-day limits. Half the shorts opened in the last 48 hours will flip into danger-zone aging by Thursday. Watch for the churn.

### see you tomorrow

The range shorts have earned a reprieve for now — bitcoin's still above its moving averages and the tape looks tired. If the week closes as flat as it opened, these positions will time out clean and reload. If price breaks down into the $84,000s, we'll get to watch the win rate work on a decline.
